In 1997, buying a refurbished computer online was a real gamble. Photos lied, warranties were paper-thin, and nobody picked up the phone when something broke. We started Discount Electronics because that wasn't good enough — not for our neighbors, not for businesses, not for anyone.

Twenty-nine years and over two million refurbished machines later, the mission hasn't moved an inch. Every laptop, every desktop, every monitor we ship still passes through the hands of a real technician in Austin. We're proud that almost every machine we touch comes with a year of warranty and support backed by people that you can actually call — and for those that don't, we'll make it very clear to you so there are no surprises.

We've grown into the nation's largest dedicated refurbisher of pre-owned Dell, HP, Lenovo, Apple, and Microsoft hardware. We've earned the A+ from the BBB, made the Inc 5000 list seven years running, and been voted Best Computer Store in Austin by the people who actually shop here. We're proud of all of it. But mostly we're proud that, after almost three decades, you still get the same shop you'd have gotten in 1997 — just with a much bigger bench.
